Who am I?

Welcome to my professional portfolio. Let me tell you a bit about myself...

My career began in 2003 in sunny Florida as a kindergarten teacher. I learned how to explicitly break down content, instructions, and expectations for students. From there, I moved back to my home state of Connecticut and began teaching 3rd grade for Hartford Public Schools (HPS). There I honed my skills at differentiation, through progress monitoring and data analysis, and social emotional learning. After 10 years in the classroom, I started looking for leadership opportunities. The opportunity came and I started working at SAND School in Hartford as a Curriculum Specialist for grades K-5. During my time there, I shifted my focus to math instruction. In 2018, I became a district math coach for HPS and have been collaborating with teachers, ever since, to improve math achievement in Hartford. I am currently in the process of certifying for the Intermediate Administrator Certification (092).

What can I do for you? Here are some numbers.

Classroom Data: CT State Test for 3rd Grade Students

Fig.1 - This graph represents data from my time as a third-grade teacher. It shows my class average, on the state accountability test, versus the third-grade average in my school for reading and math. In reading, the grade level average was 44.4% and my class average was 57.9%. In math, the grade level average was 66.7% and my class average was 84.2%.

Intervention Data: MAP Math Fall vs Winter Score Comparison

Fig.2 - This graph represents data from my time working with students in intervention groups. At the time, I was working with six students. The goal was to increase each student’s Fall MAP math score by at least seven points by winter. All students met the goal and the class average of points increased was eleven.

Mathematics Instructional Coach Data: Instructional Walkthroughs Year 1 vs Year 2

Fig.3 - This graph represents data from my time as a district instructional coach. During this time, I facilitated instructional walkthroughs and collected data around instructional goals for the school. The instructional goals were focus, coherence, representations and productive struggle in mathematics. This data set shows year one data versus year two, after I had a year to work with teachers to provide professional learning and coaching.
